Rashid six-for propels Afghanistan to 92-run win over Ireland at Bready

Rashid Khan took six wickets as Afghanistan beat Ireland by 92 runs at Bready on 7 August 2026 in Gary Wilson's first one-day international as head coach. A wet outfield delayed the match by 90 minutes and the game was reduced by three overs per side to 47 overs for Afghanistan's innings.

Afghanistan posted 299-8 from their 47 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran the only batter to pass fifty, scoring 84 off 97 balls. The tourists reached that total by exploiting the short boundaries at the County Tyrone ground, striking 32 boundaries in the innings, which included nine fours and three sixes.

Wilson's tenure began with defeat, but Ireland can attempt to respond in the third match of the series at Stormont on Monday. The five-match fixtures are preparation for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, which are set to begin next year.
