Raven Chapman suffers brain bleed after sparring session in Denmark

Raven Chapman was airlifted to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a brain bleed following a sparring session in Denmark on 24 July. Her management company, Vote Boxing, said she underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling before being sedated.

Chapman turned professional in 2021 and beat Georgia Klein by fourth-round stoppage in June. The 32-year-old Norwich-born fighter has won 10 professional fights with two losses. She was the challenger who lost to Skye Nicolson for the WBC featherweight title in October 2024.

Chapman collapsed after training and was taken by helicopter to hospital, where doctors diagnosed a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema. Vote Boxing reported the medical intervention and subsequent care that followed the collapse. The company added that Chapman's family are with her in Denmark.

Vote Boxing said Chapman's doctors were "doing everything they can to support her recovery" and that they remained "hopeful as she continues to fight through this incredibly difficult time".

"Over the past day, she has been taken off the sedatives and is continuing to receive treatment while awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a hospital in the UK, where her rehabilitation is expected to take some time," the statement said.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise funds, while messages of support have poured in from across the boxing community, including former promoter Frank Warren. "Raven is fully in my thoughts this morning. I'm really hoping she can pull through and get home safely. Everyone at Queensberry is behind you, Raven. We're all hoping you can pull through this," Warren wrote on X.

She is awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a hospital in the UK, where her rehabilitation is expected to take some time.
