Rest of India defeated Ranji Trophy champions Jammu & Kashmir by 167 runs to win the Irani Trophy 2026 in Srinagar on October 4, 2026.

Paras Dogra won the toss for Jammu & Kashmir and elected to field first; Rest of India were held to 237 in their first innings. Jammu & Kashmir then took a 41-run lead in the match, supported by half-centuries from Paras Dogra, Abdul Samad and Lone Nasir.

In Rest of India’s second innings the report named Ravichandran Smaran as the only centurion of the match and credited him with a 23-year-old’s 135 off 153 deliveries; RoI set Jammu & Kashmir a target of 279.

Jammu & Kashmir failed to reach that target and were dismissed for 111, resulting in the 167-run margin of victory for Rest of India.

Sarfaraz Khan provided a first-innings 45 to stabilise Rest of India after two early wickets but was out for a duck in the second innings; Umar Nazir took his wicket on both occasions.

The Rest of India captain and the player described as having the most international experience, Rishabh Pant, scored 10 in the first innings and 8 in the second and, the report states, he took three chances in the first innings while playing as the wicketkeeper. Manav Suthar made two in the first innings and 16 in the second; he bowled 10 overs, including two maidens, without taking a wicket.

Akash Deep contributed with the bat and ball, scoring 22 and 3 and returning match figures of six wickets; his individual innings figures were 3/43 and 3/25. He dismissed Lone Nasir in the first innings and then removed Qamran Iqbal and Shubham Khajuria in the second.

Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets for 84 runs in the first innings and was more destructive in the second, taking six wickets for 33 runs.
