Revised dates and broadcast plans announced for Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026

On October 13, 2026 organisers announced revised dates and telecast arrangements for the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026, which will be held at the Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad and will now begin on October 23.

The tournament had been slated to run from October 21 to 31 but the starting date was moved forward by two days; the competition remains the inaugural edition and will feature fourteen nations. The scheduling change and broadcast details were released in the days leading up to the event.

Broadcasters for the competition were confirmed alongside the revised calendar: the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will be shown on the Star Sports network, with live streaming available on the JioStar app and website. The announcement noted that this availability is welcome for Indian viewers who want to watch kabaddi action live.

India enter the competition having won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya a month ago after defeating Iran in the final, and the Indian team have been described as among the favourites. The source also states Iran will not participate in this tournament. The Indian team are expected to take the event seriously given the possibility of upsets and strong interest from fans.

The report adds that generally it is difficult for a kabaddi event to attract a broadcast partner, and that securing Star Sports as a rights holder will enable viewers to follow matches live. Organisers made the revised dates and telecast information public ahead of the competition to ensure fans and stakeholders were informed.

The Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 will now commence on October 23 at Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad. For more updates, follow Khel Now Kabaddi on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram; download the Khel Now Android App or IOS App and join our community on Whatsapp & Telegram.
