Rey Fenix and Penta advance to World Heavyweight No. 1 Contender final after WWE Raw in Ottawa
On August 24, WWE Raw held the semi-finals of the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, where Rey Fenix defeated Dragon Lee and Penta defeated La Parka to advance.
Fenix’s win came in the first match of the show and Penta’s victory followed in the second; both competitors had advanced from the tournament’s opening round to contest the semi-final spots.
The tournament winner will earn a shot at Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight title on the September 14 edition of Raw at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. WWE will return to Mexico with its weekly shows for the first time in 15 years.
The two finalists are brothers Rey Fenix and Penta, who will face one another in the tournament final for the opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns (c) in front of their home crowd. Their matchup sets up a sibling showdown to decide the challenger for the World Heavyweight title.
SmackDown will emanate live from Arena CDMX in Mexico City on September 11, 2026, with Monday Night Raw following at the same venue on September 14. Those episodes fall during TripleMania 34 weekend, with the TripleMania event scheduled for Arena CDMX on September 13 and Night 1 at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on September 11.
The September 14 Raw card will also feature Lola Vice’s main roster debut; Vice has been absent from WWE television since losing the NXT title rematch in the NXT Underground match. Her arrival on the Mexico City show was confirmed as part of the announced lineup.
Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will defend her title in a WrestleMania 42 rematch against Stephanie Vaquer after Vaquer defeated Roxanne Perez in her in-ring return during the August 24 edition of Raw. That title match has been added to the September 14 Arena CDMX card.
The final between Rey Fenix and Penta will be held on the September 14 edition of Raw at Arena CDMX, with the winner receiving the right to challenge Roman Reigns (c) for the World Heavyweight title.
