Ric Flair gives health update after release from Tampa hospital

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, 77, has posted a health update after being released from Tampa General Hospital following a fall outside a restaurant in Tampa, Florida, hours after cancelling an appearance on October 23. He shared a photograph wearing an eyepatch and wrote on Instagram: “Thank You To All The Tampa General Hospital Staff And Doctors That Put Up With Me Until 4:30am. I Appreciate You All And Thank You For Everything You Did For Me! I Am Focused On My Healing And Recovery Right Now. I Will Be Okay,”
Flair had earlier revealed he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg and cancelled a scheduled appearance at Washington State Horror Con in Seattle after notifying fans on October 23. He said doctors had restricted his travel to three or four hours and that he was scheduled to undergo a procedure to treat the affected vein. He warned that blood clots can be life-threatening and stressed the importance of following medical advice.
Hours after the cancellation on October 23, Flair reportedly fell outside a restaurant in Tampa and was taken to hospital with cuts to his head and the area around his eye. Reports raised concerns about a possible concussion, although that diagnosis was not confirmed. His daughter, WWE superstar Charlotte Flair, offered an early public reassurance to fans about his condition.
Sources indicate Flair was released from the hospital, shifting attention from emergency treatment to recovery. He did not provide a detailed medical breakdown of the injuries he sustained in the fall. The Instagram post and accompanying photograph were presented as part of his update on his condition.
Flair has faced other significant health challenges in recent years. In 2017 he experienced serious complications involving organ failure and spent time in intensive care. In 2025 he disclosed a diagnosis of skin cancer for the second time in three years and later announced that he was cancer-free.
Charlotte Flair supplied a lighter detail from her father’s interaction with medical staff in her public update on X, writing: “Not my dad telling the doctor he fell bc of warrior dropping him on his head… (ps: he’s going to be ok).” Separately, Charlotte has had her own WWE health concerns following an attack by Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab on the October 9 episode of SmackDown, after which she was ruled medically unfit to compete in her scheduled match.
Flair has not shared a specific timeline for his recovery or confirmed when he will undergo the planned procedure on the affected vein. For now, his public statements and the hospital release indicate the immediate priority is healing and recovery while treatment plans for the blood clot remain in place.
