Rishabh Pant asks Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for help buying land to return home

Rishabh Pant publicly appealed to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on X on Saturday, August 8, 2026, seeking assistance to acquire land in Uttarakhand because he wants to shift his base from Delhi and build his first house in his native State.

Pant said in two posts on X that he had spent three years trying to find suitable land to relocate from Delhi but had been unable to secure anything “facilitating and big” to live in, and that he was still awaiting land he says was promised to him when he promoted the State previously; the posts were written directly by Pant and contained spelling errors. “I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand,” he wrote, adding that he wanted “to move back to my native place to help and built around Uttarakhand” and return to his “Pahadi people”.

Pant told the chief minister in a follow-up reply on X that he would prefer to purchase the land from the government at government rates rather than accept it as a gift so he could build “my first house” in his home State, and said he was unsure how to proceed. “A gift would be lovely for representation out states at the highest level internationally stages but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on there rates,” he wrote.

Responding in Hindi on X, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described Pant as “the pride of Uttarakhand” and said his performances had brought recognition to “Devbhoomi” both nationally and internationally. Dhami said Pant’s desire to return and contribute to the State was commendable and that instructions had been issued to concerned officials, who would soon contact Pant to extend all possible cooperation “in accordance with the rules”.

Pant is 28 years old, hails from Uttarakhand and currently represents Delhi in domestic cricket while remaining a member of India’s Test setup. He is presently part of the India A squad playing a three-day unofficial Test against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo.

India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15, and Pant is in Colombo with the India A group ahead of that series.
