Ritu Negi dropped from Himachal reward list after Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games gold; minister to review

Ritu Negi, the celebrated captain of the women's kabaddi team, was left off the cash-reward list following the team's gold-medal win at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the Times of India reported on October 9, 2026.

Her teammates received acknowledgments, and her exclusion raised concerns about recognition for athletes, especially after marriage. The Sports Minister has committed to reviewing the oversight and ensuring that Negi's contributions are appropriately honored.
