Robin Fellhauer’s 8.4-second strike sets new Bundesliga record

Robin Fellhauer of FC Augsburg scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history, finding the net against Bayern Munich in 8.4 seconds during a Bundesliga match on October 10, 2026, breaking the previous benchmark held by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi.
The 28-year-old converted after Bayern’s own kickoff when Manuel Neuer’s goal kick deflected into play and Fellhauer finished into an empty net; Bayern later recovered from two separate deficits to finish the game 2-2. Fellhauer’s goal has been added to a list of the quickest openings in the German top flight.
Karim Bellarabi set the prior record on the opening day of the 2014–15 Bundesliga season when he scored after nine seconds for Bayer Leverkusen against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park; Stefan Kěling added a second goal late in stoppage time to make it 2-0. One year later Kevin Volland nearly matched Bellarabi, with the Hoffenheim forward taking advantage of a misdirected ball from David Alaba intended for Jérôme Boateng, although Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski helped Bayern rally to a 2-1 victory.
Several players have reached double-digit seconds to open matches. Élber registered an 11-second goal for Bayern Munich against Hamburg; Ulf Kirsten scored after 11 seconds for Bayer Leverkusen versus Kaiserslautern; and VfL Bochum’s Thomas Freier struck after 11 seconds against 1860 Munich on the final day of the 2002–03 campaign.
Other rapid openings include Szalai’s quick effort against Bremen, which has been measured at about 12.5 seconds and is typically rounded down to 12 seconds in official listings, and Lukas Zander’s 12-second goal for St. Pauli versus Karlsruhe. Lothar Matthäus scored in 13 seconds against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Egyptian forward Zidan netted in 14 seconds for Mainz against Werder Bremen.
Fellhauer’s 8.4-second finish replaces the previous fastest strikes in the Bundesliga record books and joins the group of the competition’s quickest goals.
