Rockstar Games will premiere Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, with the presentation scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and set to appear on YouTube six hours later the same day. Rockstar announced the timing in a tweet that lists the Netflix premiere date and time.
The announcement that the extended look will arrive first on Netflix surprised some fans because the clip will be available on the streaming service six hours before it appears on YouTube. Although Rockstar Games has not revealed any official information about the presentation’s content, commentators have linked the platform choice to Netflix’s recent push into gaming and the scale of interest surrounding GTA VI.

Rockstar has previously shown lengthy, non-traditional footage in exclusive windows: it presented a 29-minute Red Dead Redemption 1 video exclusively through FOX that featured in-engine footage from multiple missions and emphasised a cinematic presentation without the standard gameplay HUD. The extended look for GTA VI may adopt a similar short-film or cinematic format rather than a HUD-driven gameplay demo.
YouTube’s role in earlier GTA 6 reveals also informed the decision to premiere on Netflix first. The first GTA 6 trailer was leaked to the internet just before it was due to be premiered, meaning some viewers saw the trailer ahead of Rockstar’s scheduled reveal; the article notes that releasing the extended look on Netflix first does not eliminate the risk of leaks.
