Rocky Flintoff hits maiden senior century as Lancashire post 443 at Taunton
Rocky Flintoff scored his first senior professional century for Lancashire in their One-Day Cup match against Somerset at Taunton on 11 August 2026, making 123 off 76 balls as Lancashire finished 443-6 in 50 overs. The 18-year-old struck 10 fours and seven sixes in an innings that helped Lancashire record their best List A total.
Flintoff came to the crease at 138-3 and was the aggressor in a 214-run partnership with Keaton Jennings, who made 156 off 127 deliveries. Flintoff reached his hundred from 65 balls as Lancashire capitalised on a flat pitch and a Somerset attack depleted by The Hundred. The scoreboard read Lancashire 443-6, with Jennings 156 (127) and Flintoff 123 (76).
The right-hander is the 18-year-old son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, and his older brother Corey also plays professional cricket for Kent. Rocky became Lancashire’s youngest player when he made his debut aged 16 years and 113 days in the One Day Cup in 2024, a week after becoming England Under-19s’ youngest centurion with a ton against Sri Lanka.
He went on to become the youngest century-maker for England Lions in a match against Cricket Australia in January 2025, beating his father’s record. Andrew Flintoff played 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals and seven T20s for England and was part of the 2005 Ashes series win.
Injuries have interrupted Rocky Flintoff’s progress: he missed last winter’s Under-19 World Cup with England and withdrew from The Hundred in 2025 after being signed by Northern Superchargers, where his father was coach. After reports linking him with a move away, Flintoff signed a new two-year contract extension with Lancashire in March.
He has still only played four first-class matches for the Red Rose county, the most recent in 2024, and began this season playing for Lancashire’s second XI while featuring again for England Under-19s. Flintoff had produced scores of 33 not out, 41 not out, 34 and 61 not out, around dismissals for nought and one, in his six previous matches before the Somerset game.
Against Somerset, whose XI also featured spinner Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael, Flintoff was particularly destructive in clearing the ropes, including sixes over straight mid-wicket in a fashion reminiscent of his father. It was announced last week he has stepped down as coach of England Lions.
The innings came in the One-Day Cup, a competition the article describes as effectively a second-tier competition played below The Hundred, and Flintoff has found opportunity and form in that tournament.
