Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a six-ball duck at Eden Park in Auckland during the 2026 five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand. He fell on the last ball of the first over of the chase, trapped by Kyle Jamieson.

The dismissal ended a 39-innings run without a duck in this format for Rohit and represented his first ODI zero since 2023. His previous ODI duck came in Chennai during the first match of the 2023 ODI World Cup, when Josh Hazlewood dismissed him for a six-ball duck.

Kyle Jamieson claimed the wicket, the third time he has dismissed Rohit in six ODI meetings. Rohit attempted to play a fullish delivery that moved slightly, mistimed the shot and chipped the ball to mid-off, where New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner took a brilliant catch.

India opened the series with a five-wicket victory at Eden Park to take a 1-0 lead. India won the toss and elected to bowl first.

New Zealand struggled in swinging conditions and lost wickets regularly; Arshdeep Singh finished with 4/70, Gurnoor Brar took 3/44 and Anshul Kamboj claimed 2/22. A 39-run stand by the last pair took New Zealand to 185.

Virat Kohli scored 74 off 51 balls with 13 fours and one six at a strike rate of 145.10, sharing a 113-run partnership with Shubman Gill (37 off 56) that steered India toward the target. The match experienced a couple of rain breaks and was reduced to 32 overs with a revised target of 143; India reached that target in 22.4 overs, finishing with five wickets in hand after losing a few late wickets.

The second ODI will be played on Saturday at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, where the Men in Blue will aim to stretch their series lead to 2-0.
