Roman Reigns returns to Raw in Buffalo; Rey Mysterio to challenge Chad Gable on August 17, 2026

Roman Reigns returns to Monday Night Raw on August 17, 2026, at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York to address Bloodline drama, and Rey Mysterio is scheduled to face Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable. The show is listed to air live at 8e/5p on Netflix according to the official mini-preview.

WWE has announced a Randy Orton versus Cody Rhodes match for the upcoming Sunday Night’s Main Event in September, and fans expect additional match announcements on tonight’s Raw. The Red brand will continue its build toward the Money in the Bank PLE as several major title feuds are featured on the card. General Manager Adam Pearce has confirmed that the tournament to decide the challenger for Roman Reigns will continue on this edition of Raw.

Two first-round tournament matches are on the card: Rey Fenix versus El Fiscal, and Dragon Lee versus El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. The winners of those bouts will advance to the semifinals. They will join Penta and La Parka, who secured their semifinal spots last week on Raw and AAA respectively.

Roman Reigns returns after an absence from programming last week amid renewed Bloodline storyline developments. Solo Sikoa lost to Jey Uso last week and, under the stipulated terms, must join the Bloodline. As part of that stipulation, Jey Uso is to deliver Solo Sikoa to Roman Reigns on tonight’s Raw.

Adam Pearce announced two additional matches for the show. "As mutually agreed last week, Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable will defend the title against Rey Mysterio." After confronting Sol Ruca backstage last week, Lyra Valkyria has been given a chance to face Ruca and stake a claim to the Women’s Intercontinental title.

With multiple stars already back on programming, no major returns are expected for tonight’s Raw as remaining names are either still injured or out of action for various reasons. Royce Keys is sidelined with a storyline injury following the Street Fight with Jacob Fatu two weeks ago. He could return tonight to help Solo Sikoa against The Bloodline if the latter decides to defy the order and take matters into his own hands.

WWE has scheduled the upcoming Sunday Night’s Main Event for Sunday, September 6, 2026, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, which the promotion says will be its first-ever Sunday Night’s Main Event. The 2026 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event is set for October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Winners from tonight’s tournament matches will advance to the semifinals of the contender tournament and compete for a shot at Roman Reigns on the September 14 edition of Raw in Mexico City.
