Roman Reigns to appear on August 31 WWE Raw; Penta vs Rey Fenix final, Raquel Rodriguez vs Sol Ruca set
World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear on the August 31, 2026 edition of WWE Raw, the promotion announced following the Monday night Raw that concluded two hours early at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. The appearance forms part of the build toward the upcoming Sunday Night’s Main Event.
The Ottawa show saw Stephanie Vaquer defeat Roxanne Perez in Vaquer’s in-ring return. A Sunday Night’s Main Event contract signing between Oba Femi and Bron Breakker ended in chaos when Austin Theory attempted to attack Femi; Femi then sent Breakker outside and put Theory through a table. Big Cass returned to in-ring action and defeated Je’Von Evans, and a main event pitting LA Knight & Solo Sikoa against The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) finished as a no-contest after an attack by Royce Keys and NXT’s OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima).
Rey Fenix defeated Dragon Lee and Penta defeated La Parka to secure their places in the World Heavyweight Title #1 Contender tournament final. The two brothers will now collide in the final next week. The winner of that match will secure the spot to challenge Roman Reigns on the September 14 edition of Raw in Mexico City.
The World Heavyweight Champion is also expected to address Solo Sikoa’s defiance and the recent attack by Royce Keys and OTM, storyline developments that unfolded during this week’s Raw. Those incidents followed the earlier contract-signing disorder involving Oba Femi, Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. The scheduling of Reigns’s return to Raw comes after those segments drew significant attention on the Ottawa card.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez is booked to defend her title against Sol Ruca in a rematch from last month, when Rodriguez defeated Ruca to capture the belt. That matchup has been announced for the August 31 episode as part of the show’s advertised lineup.
The August 31 edition of Monday Night Raw will be pre-taped on Friday, August 28, at the Rocket Mortgage Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, during a double taping of Raw and SmackDown. The show will air on Monday at 8 PM ET on Netflix (excluding select markets). Money in the Bank, the next premium live event after SummerSlam 2026, is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The pre-taped August 31 Raw will broadcast at its usual 8 PM ET start on Netflix, with the Penta vs Rey Fenix final set to determine who challenges Reigns on the September 14 edition of Raw in Mexico City.
