Ryan ten Doeschate returns to Knight Riders Sports as Head of Cricket Strategy
Knight Riders Sports has brought back former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate in the newly created role of Head of Cricket Strategy. He will take charge of scouting, recruitment, squad planning and player development across the franchise’s global teams and will also serve as assistant coach for three overseas Knight Riders sides.
Ten Doeschate’s appointment signals a consolidation of cricket operations within the Knight Riders family. The role combines front-office responsibilities with hands-on coaching duties, linking talent identification and squad construction with coaching across the group’s international properties. His return follows previous success with Kolkata Knight Riders, where he collected two IPL titles as a player and a further title in a coaching capacity.
In his capacity as Head of Cricket Strategy, Ten Doeschate will oversee the franchise’s scouting efforts. That remit covers identifying prospects and evaluating talent for recruitment across the Knight Riders’ various teams. The brief also includes shaping squad strategy, which encompasses selection priorities and roster planning, ensuring a coordinated approach across the organisation’s programmes.
Player development is another key element of Ten Doeschate’s responsibilities. He will be charged with establishing pathways for emerging players within the franchise’s ecosystem and coordinating development plans to align with each side’s competitive objectives. Those responsibilities are intended to create continuity between the recruitment pipeline and the coaching staff who prepare squads for competition.
Alongside his strategic duties, Ten Doeschate will serve as assistant coach for three overseas Knight Riders teams.
