The season-ending WTA Finals 2026 will bring the top eight singles players to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California from November 8 to 15, with defending champion Elena Rybakina among the favourites after she beat Aryna Sabalenka to win the 2025 title. The final qualification spot was sealed in Ningbo when Karolina Muchova made the field after Marta Kostyuk retired from the Ningbo Open with an injury.

It is no surprise that the top three players in the WTA Rankings are seen as the primary title contenders for the year-end event, with Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva each cited as potential winners. The WTA Finals will feature the tour’s top eight singles players competing for the season-ending crown at Indian Wells.

Elena Rybakina’s 2026 campaign included a victory over Sabalenka at the Australian Open and a US Open title, plus tournament wins at Stuttgart and Ningbo; the New York triumph helped her dethrone Sabalenka and become the New World No. 1. Rybakina also reached the finals at the WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Toronto, and she was eliminated in the opening round at Beijing.

Aryna Sabalenka completed the Sunshine Double after defeating Rybakina in the Indian Wells final and then winning the Miami Open, and she reached the finals at the Grand Slams in Melbourne and New York, losing both to Rybakina. The Belarusian has recorded 47 match wins this season and is only the fifth player in WTA Tour history to sweep the Sunshine Double, with her strongest results coming on hard courts.

Mirra Andreeva will make her WTA Finals debut after winning her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros and compiling 50 match wins in 2026, tied with Jessica Pegula for most on tour. The 19-year-old also captured titles at Linz and Adelaide, reached finals in Beijing and Madrid, and rose to a career-high No. 3 in the WTA in October.

Qualification developments ahead of Indian Wells included Karolina Muchova securing the final singles spot following Marta Kostyuk’s retirement from the Ningbo Open; the season-ending doubles champions are Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens. Elena Rybakina enters the event as the defending singles champion.

The WTA Finals will be contested at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California from November 8 to 15, where the eight qualified singles players will compete for the year-end title.
