Sammy seen snacking on guavas and advising players during 4th T20I in Hyderabad

On 2026-10-14 in Hyderabad, West Indies head coach Daren Sammy was photographed eating guavas and offering instructions during the innings break of the fourth T20I against India. The visitors had compiled 247 for three, leaving India under considerable pressure ahead of the chase.
The guavas on a plate were intended for the playing group, but Sammy appeared relaxed as he moved among his batsmen. He was observed passing on instructions and leaning in to speak with Rovman Powell. Later he walked off the field alongside 12th man Kamil Pooran, the two chatting while continuing to munch the fruit.
Shai Hope anchored the innings with an unbeaten 102 off 50 balls. He hit nine sixes and four fours as he propelled the West Indies to a commanding total.
Sherfane Rutherford finished the innings unbeaten on 49 from 26 deliveries. He struck four fours and three sixes and had been dropped on 42 by Mayank Yadav before adding the late runs.
Prince Yadav was India's most successful bowler, returning figures of 1 for 36 from his four overs. The remainder of the Indian attack found it difficult to contain the Caribbean batters, with Hope and Rutherford dictating terms.
The pair's late assault ensured the West Indies finished with a flourish and left India with a mountain to climb in the run chase. Amid the heavy scoring, Sammy's guava moment provided a lighter scene as the team replenished during the break.
With 247 runs on the board, Sammy could afford to enjoy a snack. His batters took a brief breather before the real work began in the field.
