Scotland level one-day series with nine-wicket victory over Netherlands

Scotland beat the Netherlands by nine wickets in a rain-affected one-day international in Stirling on 31 August 2026 to level the two-match series at 1-1. The result followed a delayed start after a wet morning at the venue.

The fixture had originally been scheduled for Sunday but fell foul of the weather, forcing the revised contest. Sarah Bryce captained Scotland in the absence of her sister Kathyrn, while the Dutch side had earlier recorded a 58-run win in Glasgow on Friday.

The Netherlands were dismissed for 129-9 in 32 overs, with Abtaha Maqsood returning figures of 3-20 and Darcy Carter finishing with 2-18. Babette de Leede top-scored for the visitors and Caroline de Lange contributed 20 to the total.

Darcy Carter provided an early breakthrough by removing Netherlands openers Phebe Molkenboer and Sanya Khurana, who had combined for more than 150 in last week's encounter. Maqsood then took two quick wickets to leave the visitors 39-4 and later struck again; de Leede was run out during the recovery.

Scotland reached 130-1 in 16.2 overs, led by an unbeaten 70 from Sarah Bryce and an undefeated 33 from Darcy Carter. Maryam Faisal was out after four balls, Bryce took two catches and sealed the chase with her 11th four, while the Dutch bowlers conceded 17 wides in 16 overs.

The teams will meet again on Tuesday at the same venue to decide the series.
