Sean Strickland says he is 'in a real bad place' after Las Vegas ATV crash

UFC champion Sean Strickland said he was "in a real bad place" after an all-terrain vehicle crash in Las Vegas on Monday night while not wearing a helmet. He posted an Instagram video describing the incident.

In the video Strickland said he had let a friend drive and that they rolled at high speed: "Guys, I’m in a real bad place. I let my buddy drive, he rolled us going, like, 60 (mph). We rolled like six times." He showed a scratch on his head and said, "That was from my head smacking the ground, going 60, did not have a helmet on. I’m an idiot." He also displayed a shoulder injury and said, "That was just from rolling and smacking the concrete and the dirt. Fuck, I’m in a real bad place right now."

The fighter posted a later update in which he said he was not badly hurt and discussed his friend’s condition: "I think I’m OK. [My friend] Chris went unconscious for a little bit, so he’s in the hospital, but I think he’s going to be alright," he said. He added in the same update: "He just went asleep for a little bit, but honestly, the most fun I’ve had in a very, very long time. My wallet’s a little sore. Rainbet did say they’d cover it, so that was nice. That was the most fun thing I’ve done in a very, very long time. I hope Chris is OK, I’ve never seen anybody go unconscious before, that was interesting."

Strickland has a history of making racist, sexist and homophobic comments.

He was involved in a motorcycle incident in 2018 that forced him into a two-year absence from the octagon.

The 35-year-old reclaimed the UFC middleweight title in May with a split decision over Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328. He remains the UFC middleweight champion.
