India and New Zealand will meet in the second One-Day International of their series at the Henry Stadium in Wellington on Saturday, November 6, with the match scheduled to start at 7:30 AM IST; India lead the series 1-0 after winning the opening game. The first ODI took place at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, where India defeated New Zealand by five wickets in a rain-affected match.

In the opening encounter New Zealand posted 185 after a difficult start, with Will Young and Henry Nicholls losing their wickets inside the powerplay and the side slipping to 115 for seven. Tim Seifert scored 38 and Daryl Mitchell made 28, Glenn Phillips contributed 30 and Blair Tickner added 34 as New Zealand recovered late to reach 185.

For India, Arshdeep Singh claimed four wickets during New Zealand’s innings. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a six-ball duck at the start of the chase, while Virat Kohli (74) and Shubman Gill (37) steadied the innings before rain reduced the contest to 32 overs per side and set India a target of 143.

Kohli and Gill combined for an opening stand for the third wicket that added more than 100 runs, with Kohli reaching a brisk half-century and Gill being dismissed just before his fifty. India lost a few quick wickets late in the chase but reached the revised target with five wickets to spare.

Anshul Kamboj was named Player of the Match after finishing with figures of 2/22 in ten overs. The preview notes a chance of rain for the second ODI and says the toss will be important; it also highlights the focus on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they pursue selection ambitions for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
