Sensor Tower: GTA 6 pre-orders surge 436% after Netflix Extended Look, reach about 4.55 million
Sensor Tower reports that pre-orders for GTA 6 jumped 436% immediately after Rockstar Games' Extended Look aired on Netflix on August 27, 2026, with cumulative pre-orders estimated at roughly 4.55 million and pre-order revenue of about $446 million.
The Extended Look presentation provided the first public gameplay showcase for GTA 6, revealing mechanics, new features and the game's protagonists Jason and Lucia. Sensor Tower's figures cover pre-orders up to that post-showcase period and the company also noted that pre-orders remained on an upward trend following the reveal. The game is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026 and, according to the report, will launch only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Sensor Tower estimated that nearly 90% of pre-orders have been for the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, a split that contributed to the approximately $446 million in pre-order revenue reported. The firm’s data suggests the high take-up of the Ultimate Edition is a major factor in the total revenue figure. The report explicitly describes the $99.99 Ultimate Edition as accounting for that large share of pre-orders.
Platform breakdowns in the Sensor Tower data show PlayStation accounting for about 77% of pre-orders, which translates to around 3.51 million copies on PS5. The report stated that PlayStation pre-orders spiked by 606% on the day of the Extended Look presentation, making PS5 the dominant platform in the tracked figures. That increase was singled out as notably larger than the gains on the competing console.
Xbox Series X/S pre-orders also rose after the showcase, but to a lesser extent; Sensor Tower estimated Xbox pre-orders increased by 127% following the reveal. The report framed the Xbox uplift as positive but smaller compared with the PlayStation response to the Netflix presentation. Sensor Tower presented these platform-specific percentage increases as part of its post-showcase analysis.
Sensor Tower's numbers are third-party estimates and neither Rockstar Games nor parent company Take-Two Interactive has released official pre-order totals, the report notes. The company highlighted that its cumulative pre-order and revenue estimates reflect data collected around the time of the Extended Look release and that the pre-order count was continuing to climb.
GTA 6 remains on track for its November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Sensor Tower's report indicates pre-orders were still increasing in the period after the Netflix Extended Look.
