Sergio Perez has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with Cadillac until 2029, the team announced on 28 October 2026. The 36-year-old will continue with the American Formula One outfit under the new deal.

Perez joined Cadillac last August ahead of the team’s debut season on the grid and races alongside fellow veteran Valtteri Bottas. He made his Formula One debut in 2011. Five of his six grands prix victories came for Red Bull between 2021-24 and one came for Racing Point (now Aston Martin) in 2020.

He completed the most recent of his six Grand Prix wins in Azerbaijan in 2023. Perez finished third in the 2022 drivers' championship and second behind team-mate Max Verstappen in 2023. Despite having two years left on his contract, he was dropped by Red Bull at the end of the 2024 season after the team felt he had run out of time to prove he could support Verstappen.

Perez sits bottom of the 2026 standings. His best performances this season are three 14th-place finishes — in Barcelona, Silverstone, and Azerbaijan. Neither he nor Bottas has earned a point for Cadillac.

"Joining Cadillac from day one was a project I truly believed in, and extending my commitment feels like a natural continuation of this chapter," said Perez. "Building a Formula One team from the ground up takes time, relentless work and patience, but the progress we are making together is incredibly rewarding. "There is still a lot of work ahead of us and I am fully committed to the next three years."

He is set to celebrate his 300th Grand Prix start in his home race in Mexico City this weekend. The extension keeps him contracted to Cadillac through 2029.
