Sri Lanka and India will resume the first Test of India’s tour of Sri Lanka 2026 at Galle International Stadium on August 18, with Day 5 scheduled to start at 09:45 AM IST. Match organisers have released the full session schedule for the final day.

India finished the fourth day with a 178-run first-innings lead and then posted 193 in their second innings to set Sri Lanka a target of 372. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a two-ball duck in India’s second innings, while KL Rahul made 35 and Devdutt Padikkal scored 44; the Rahul–Padikkal stand contributed 65 for the second wicket. Rishabh Pant’s 66 played a key role in pushing India’s lead beyond 300.

Sri Lanka lost four wickets quickly in their chase, falling to 47 for four, with Pasinda Sooriyabandara—who had come in as a concussion substitute for Dinesh Chandimal—out for a duck. With the scoreboard under pressure, captain Dhananjaya de Silva (31*) and Sonal Dinusha (25*) combined for a fifth-wicket partnership of 37 to steady the innings. The pair kept Sri Lanka intact through the close, which saw them finish the day 84 for four and needing 288 more runs to win.

The scheduled sessions for Day 5 are: 1st session 09:45 AM to 12:00 PM IST / 4:00 AM to 6:30 AM GMT / 09:45 AM to 12:00 PM local time, followed by a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 12:40 PM IST / 6:30 AM to 7:10 AM GMT / 12:00 PM to 12:40 PM local time. The 2nd session is listed as 12:40 PM to 2:40 PM IST / 7:10 AM to 9:10 AM GMT / 12:40 PM to 2:40 PM local time, with a tea break from 2:40 PM to 3:00 PM IST / 9:10 AM to 9:30 AM GMT / 2:40 PM to 3:00 PM local time. The 3rd session is 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST / 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM GMT / 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, and a half-hour extension is available from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM IST / 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM GMT / 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM local time.
