Shirov proposes tennis-style world champion system, says Gukesh 'shouldn’t be called No. 1'

Grandmaster Alexei Shirov has proposed that the chess world adopt a system similar to tennis for its World Champion title following D Gukesh's historic win over Ding Liren that made Gukesh the youngest undisputed world champion.

Shirov questioned the use of the 'World Champion' title and said Gukesh shouldn’t be called No. 1.
