Shivam Dube was omitted from India’s playing XI for the fourth T20I against West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14. With the series tied at 2-1, the match is being treated as a virtual series-decider.

India won the opening T20I, but West Indies bounced back in the second T20I in Ranchi by chasing down a target of 250 to level the series. In that chase Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls and Sherfane Rutherford made 84 off 37. India then won the third T20I, defending a target of 224 to win the game by 14 runs.

India named an unchanged XI for the fourth match, which left all-rounder Shivam Dube on the bench after he missed the previous game. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who replaced Dube in the last match, retained his place for the ongoing game.

There has been no confirmation that Dube is injured; it is assumed he has been dropped from India’s playing XI for the fourth T20I as a team selection decision following India’s defeat in Ranchi. Dube did not make a big impact with either bat or ball in the second T20I and will have to wait for another chance to play in the series.

India will be keen to win the fourth game and seal the series with one match to go. West Indies, meanwhile, will look to defend the massive total of 247 runs which they posted in 4th T20I, with Shai Hope again the hero as he slammed a second century of the series.

The result of Wednesday’s fourth T20I will determine whether India can clinch the five-match series with one game remaining.
