Shreyas Iyer named captain of India’s 15-member T20I squad for Afghanistan; Bumrah and Samson included, Pandya omitted

On September 1, 2026, the Indian cricket team announced a 15-member squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

Shreyas Iyer was named captain with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. The pace unit features the returning Jasprit Bumrah alongside Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan were also included in the squad, while Pandya missed out. Some players still await fitness clearance prior to the series start.
