India moved up from sixth to fifth in the overall standings at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Day 3, and Simran Sharma claimed her second gold of the tournament.

India’s para-athletes collected 27 medals on Day 3, taking the country’s overall tally to 62 — 14 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze — in a session that produced Games Records, personal bests and a clean sweep in the men’s shot put F46; the throwing arena was the day’s focal point. Competitors posted a run of season-best and personal-best performances across track, field and throws.

The men’s shot put F46 produced a complete podium for India. Sachin Khilari won gold with a Games Record throw of 15.79m on his first attempt and had every legal put exceed 15m, Mohd Yasser took silver with a season-best 15.06m and Praveen added bronze with 13.83m.

Other throws produced multiple medals: Ayush Verma won gold in the men’s shot put F53 with 8.16m, Bhagyashri Jadhav earned silver in the women’s shot put F34 with a personal best of 8.19m, and Ravi Rongali finished with bronze in the men’s shot put F40 with 10.02m. India recorded a one-two in the men’s high jump T44 as Praveen Kumar cleared a Games Record 2.05m to win gold and Banti took silver with a personal best of 1.92m. Shailesh Kumar added a Games Record in the men’s long jump T42 with a 5.57m effort on his fifth attempt to take bronze.

On the track, Dilip Gavit Mahadu won the men’s 100m T47 in 10.69 seconds with Mohammed Basil second in 10.72 seconds.
