Smith beats Price 11-5 to win World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam

Ross Smith defeated Gerwyn Price 11-5 in the final of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam on 20 September 2026, winning the last six legs to secure the title. The 37-year-old world number 14 claimed a surprise victory over the two-time former champion to take the tournament's top prize.

It was Smith's second major title, his only previous success at this level of the PDC World Tour coming at the European Championship in 2022. Price is a two-time winner of the event, having taken the title in 2020 and 2022. Smith entered the tournament having suffered first-round exits in New Zealand and Australia in his only two other appearances in this season's World Series.

Smith outscored Price with a barrage of 180s, landing 11 maximums to Price's five, and produced a decisive finish after the interval. Price won back-to-back legs to level the final at 5-5, but Smith took the next three, including consecutive checkouts of 127 and 123. Smith then held off a late rally by winning a sequence of scrappy legs to close out the 11-5 victory.

On his route to the final, Smith beat Northern Ireland's Josh Rock 10-7 in the quarter-finals and Dutch player Gian van Veen 11-8 in the semi-finals. Price reached the final after beating England's James Wade in the quarter-finals and then defeating compatriot Jonny Clayton in the last four. Clayton had earlier eliminated world champion Luke Littler in the quarter-finals.

"Honestly, I am made up with the win. I am just so happy," said Smith, who suffered first-round exits in New Zealand and Australia in his only two other appearances in the 2026 World Series. "You are playing Gerwyn Price - one of the best players in the world. You have got to up your game."

Luke Littler's bid to complete a clean sweep of major PDC titles in 2026 ended with a 10-4 quarter-final defeat by Jonny Clayton. Littler had won the World Championship at Alexandra Palace in January and followed that with victories at the World Masters, UK Open, Premier League, World Cup of Darts and World Matchplay, but he was beaten by Clayton after being roundly booed by the crowd during his last-16 win over Nathan Aspinall and threatening to boycott events in the Netherlands.

Smith claimed the £100,000 winner's prize with his Amsterdam triumph, while Littler's loss confirmed he would not achieve a clean sweep of the major PDC titles in 2026.
