Soham Varshneya’s 90+3' strike clinches 2-1 Bengaluru win over FC Goa at Fatorda

Soham Varshneya scored in stoppage time as Bengaluru FC beat FC Goa 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on 6 November in an Indian Super League 2026-27 fixture. Borja Martinez had opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Franchu levelled for Goa less than five minutes later.
The match began at a fast pace and took an early turn when Borja Martinez tested the goalkeeper and then scored with a left-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom-right corner after a Fanai assist. Argentine Franchu responded within minutes with another shot from outside the area to make it 1-1. The contest settled into a tight finish before Soham Varshneya, who had been introduced before half-time, converted in stoppage time to secure the victory for Bengaluru.
The custodian made three saves inside the box and could not keep a clean sheet, with the report adding that he “couldn’t have done much to save the first goal” and that Goa “succumbed to their first defeat of the evening.” Jhinghan contributed defensively with four headed clearances, a block and a tackle, but the same report noted his marking and positioning were “questionable in both the goals Goa conceded tonight.”
On Goa’s right flank, Nemil was described as a menace, using accelerated runs into the final third and snatching the ball to provide the assist for Franchu’s equaliser; Franchu registered one shot on target. Udanta registered the joint most touches in the match but was beaten by Ashique Kuruniyan in the build-up to the decisive second goal. Akash spent much of the game hugging the touchline, with his heat map showing work setting up Isak upfront.
For Bengaluru, Borja Martinez tested Bob Jackson from the centre of the box in the 8th minute before his 12th-minute finish; he was later substituted for Ashique Kuruniyan in the second half, which reduced his influence after the break. Fanai provided the assist for Borja early on but was later unable to make a real impact and was replaced by Soham Varshneya before half-time after being pulled out because of an injury.
Several substitutes and late incidents affected the match: KC Malsawmsanga was shown a yellow card after coming on near the hour mark and came on to replace Franchu in the 67th minute. Prachit was introduced early, had over 40 minutes to influence the game but saw his solitary shot go off target. A header from a Ryan Williams corner in the 85th minute went just wide of the left post and nearly altered the outcome.
Bengaluru FC collected all three points from the 2-1 win at Fatorda, with Borja Martinez and Soham Varshneya scoring for Bengaluru and Franchu netting for FC Goa.
