Som Kumar signs contract extension to remain with Slovenia's ND Slovan

Som Kumar has extended his stay with Slovenian second-division club ND Slovan, according to a report published on Aug. 5, 2026.

Born in Karnataka, Som spent most of his youth development in Slovenia after earlier short stints in the U-13 setups of Bengaluru FC and Boca Juniors. He joined NK Bravo as a 15-year-old and subsequently featured in the youth systems of NK Bravo and NK Krka before moving permanently to NK Olimpija U19 ahead of the 2023-24 season. In the 2023-24 NextGen Liga he played 13 times, conceded 13 goals and kept six clean sheets.

Ahead of the 2024-25 season Som returned to India to sign for Kerala Blasters FC, making eight appearances across the ISL and the Durand Cup and recording two clean sheets. A couple of individual errors saw him fall behind Sachin and Nora Fernandes in the pecking order, and in February 2025 he moved back to Slovenia to sign for NK Radomlje.

ND Slovan brought Som in on a half-season loan in September 2025 and provided him with first-team opportunities. The club completed a permanent transfer from NK Radomlje in February 2026; he began the campaign as the second-choice goalkeeper before breaking into the starting lineup late in the season.

Som featured in 13 of ND Slovan’s final 14 matches of the 2025-26 season, conceding 25 goals across those 13 appearances, an average of around two goals per game. He kept two clean sheets in 1-0 victories that yielded six points for the side and contributed to a string of results that helped the club finish in the lower mid-table.

The club has rewarded Som’s late-season run with a one-year contract extension ahead of the new campaign.

Som Kumar holds an Indian passport and is eligible to represent the Blue Tigers; with the one-year extension he is expected to start the upcoming season as ND Slovan’s first-choice goalkeeper.
