South Africa and Australia are contesting the first Test at Kingsmead in Durban, played from October 9-13, with the match underway after Australia elected to bat. At the close of the third session on Day 1, Australia were 187/6 in 65.2 overs.

The Proteas won the preceding ODI series by a 2-0 margin, and the Test series carries relevance for both sides as they are fighting for a place in the final of the World Test Championship 2025-27. A win in the first game will set the tone for the rest of the series. The first game began at 1 PM IST / 11:30 AM local on Friday and the live action on Day 2 began at 1 PM IST / 11:30 AM local.

Australia had a difficult start as South Africa removed both openers for 24 runs. Marnus Labuschgane (37) and Steve Smith (25) put together a 60-run stand before that partnership was broken and Australia subsequently lost several wickets. Matt Renshaw has played a tough knock and recorded his second test ton to take his team to a competitive score.

In India the live telecast of the first Test will be on Eurosport. The live telecast of the game will be available on Jio Hotstar and FanCode app or websites. South African fans can watch the live action on the SABC 3 channel, with the live stream on the SABC+ platform. In Australia the game will be shown on the Fox Cricket channel and streamed on Kayo Sports.
