Sovereign King and Noraiah catch the eye in Pune gallops

Sovereign King and Noraiah caught the eye when they were exercised at Pune on the morning of Monday, August 17.

Morning works at the Pune course produced timed efforts over 600m, 800m, 1,000m and 1,200m, along with inner-sand gate practice; mock races had been noted on the race track on August 16. The report lists individual times and brief comments on each horse's work and finishing effort.

Over 600m Starseed (T.S. Jodha) clocked 41 and was described as "Easy." In the 800m moves Precioso (Omkar) and Mila (T.S. Jodha) recorded 57, 600/41, with the "Former ended two lengths in front." Ashwa Ankara (Peter) 54, 600/41 "Moved freely." Shirsa (S.G. Prasad) 52, 600/37 "Moved well." Thundering Phoenix (Santosh) 51, 600/38 "Moved nicely." Silver Strike (Nazil) 50, 600/38 was "Urged in the last part," and Chakar View (A. Gaikwad) 53, 600/39 "Moved freely."

In the 1,000m bracket Shimmer (Akram) 1-8, 800/53, 600/39 was "Pushed." Lumineer (Peter) and Sky Bound (S.J. Sunil) 1-7, 800/51, 600/38 "were urged and finished level." Gunfire (Yash) 1-7, 800/51, 600/38 was "Pleased." Irish Gold (Gore) 1-7, 800/52, 600/39 "Worked well," and Gunsmoke (S.J. Sunil) 1-8, 800/53, 600/40 "Worked freely."

During the 1,200m session Shambala (T.S. Jodha) posted 1-24, 600/42 and "Moved fluently." Raphael (rb) 1-23, 1000/1-9, 800/55, 600/41 was "Pressed." Noraiah (Mosin) recorded 1-20, 1000/1-5, 800/51, 600/38 and "Responded well to the urgings." Sovereign King (Ramswarup) clocked 1-19, 1000/1-5, 800/52, 600/40 and "Moved impressively."

Gate practice on the inner sand over 1,000m featured Heaven’s Rhythm (Peter) and Horizon (S.J. Sunil) 1-9, 800/54, 600/41; "Both were urged and finished level." Mock races noted on August 16 on the race track included an 1,800m contest in which Fynbos (Vivek G) and Duke Of Tuscany (Kirtish) recorded 1-52, 600/35; Fynbos, "who was racing four lengths behind throughout the race easily covered the leeway in the last 100m and pipped the latter on the post." A 1,200m mock saw Chagall (app), Manor House (app), Family Man (app), Lempika (app), Bayridge (T.S. Jodha) and Rules (app) 1-8, 600/34; "Won by: Dist, 3L and Short Head." The report states "Chagall came very well from the fourth position and won the race by a distance."
