Spain v Czechia: Nations League 2026-27 preview and team news

Spain will face the Czech Republic at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere in Oviedo on October 3 in their third UEFA Nations League 2026-27 group match. Spain arrive after a 4-1 victory over Luka Modric’s Croatia.

The Luis de la Fuente-led side have extended their winning run following that 4-1 result; it was described in the report as a top-of-the-line performance by the world champions and Spain took an early lead that put pressure on their opponents. The 19-year-old was once again the star of the show, scoring a sensational brace in the 4-1 win. Lamine Yamal also bagged an assist and his work rate on the right wing kept the opponent’s defence on edge.

Spain will be without Alejandro Grimaldo, who has withdrawn from the squad with a thigh injury, and Fran Garcia has joined the camp as his replacement.

Czechia come into the match off a 0-2 loss to England in their previous Nations League fixture; Santi Denia’s side failed to establish control and were reduced to 10 men after Pavel Šulc received a red card in the 23rd minute. The report notes that Czechia have never secured a win against the Spaniards. Adam Karabec was forced off with an injury against England and is doubtful to start, while Pavel Šulc is suspended and will miss out.

Michal Sadílek is singled out as an important figure for Czechia, with the 27-year-old capable of providing control in midfield and contributing defensively. Projected lineups provided in the preview list Spain as: Simon (GK); Pubill, Cubarsi, Huijsen, Cucrella; Ruiz, Zubimendi; Yamal, Lopez, Baena; Oyarzabal. Czechia are listed as: Kovar (GK); Chaloupek, Hranac, Krejci, Slama; Sadilek, Cerv; Radosta, Ambros, Lingr; Hlozek.
