Sports Interactive deep dive details Football Manager 27’s training overhaul and new Tactical Effectiveness system

Sports Interactive released a deep-dive video on Football Manager 27 on October 10, 2026 revealing a revamped training system and a new gameplay feature called Tactical Effectiveness.
Training in Football Manager has long been intricately modelled but, the developer notes, often underused by players who delegate it to assistant managers; the latest build aims to bring those tools closer to the manager with a redesigned interface meant to be more accessible and efficient.
The studio described Tactical Effectiveness as a system that assesses how well a squad can implement a chosen tactical style, measuring multiple contributing elements rather than relying solely on individual attributes.
Sports Interactive said Tactical Effectiveness evaluates four major factors: tactical understanding, player ability, buy-in, and match preparation, and that the metric will create an additional consideration when assembling and deploying a squad.
The developer warned that more complex tactical systems will demand players who can comprehend and follow detailed instructions, requiring managers to weigh squad composition and player suitability, particularly when setting up demanding tactical approaches.
According to Sports Interactive on their official website, players who compete in higher leagues such as the Bundesliga, Premier League & more are better equipped to understand the tactical system.
Alongside Tactical Effectiveness, Football Manager 27’s training interface adds features intended to simplify schedule management: a clearer layout for constructing weekly programmes, the return of copy-and-paste for training schedules, and easier options to tailor sessions to upcoming opponents—for example focusing on breaking down teams that defend deep.
Football Manager 27 is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox and Netflix.
