Sports Interactive details Football Manager 27 features ahead of November 2026 release

Sports Interactive has published a developer deep dive outlining new systems and interface changes for Football Manager 27, which is scheduled for November 2026. The update preview covers redesigned navigation, the return of Cup Draws and Transfer Deadline Day, and adjustments to transfer AI and the news system.
The studio, working with SEGA, said the game will present an expanded view of the football world through redesigned menus and broader news coverage. The news overhaul includes expanded seasonal previews, title-race updates, transfer speculation and mid-season reports. Several major news-area menus will be available, specifically Club, Competition and Nation screens. These screens will surface highlighted items such as recent transfers, top performers, fixtures, results and important statistics.
Cup Draws will return in an interactive presentation rather than delivering results automatically, according to the developer notes. Transfer Deadline Day is also reintroduced, with a specific change to agent activity: agents’ offers will now appear throughout the transfer window instead of the final day. Sports Interactive describes these restorations as aiming to make knockout tournaments and deadline-day trading feel more interactive for players.
The developer said the game's AI and transfer behaviour have been overhauled to better mirror decision-making in the virtual football world. During negotiations, the stated value of playing time has been increased for young players, which will affect their transfer choices and contract talks. Clubs are described as now more likely to factor in sell-on clauses when arranging deals.
Sports Interactive also said experience and leadership attributes have been given greater weight for AI managers when they construct squads. Those changes to AI priorities are intended to influence recruitment decisions across clubs. The developer framed these adjustments as part of a broader effort to refine club behaviour and squad-building logic.
A new Continue Flow system will let players control how often the simulation pauses for incoming news, messages, results and fixtures. The developer listed four preset pacing options—Streamlined, Balanced, Comprehensive—or a fully Custom experience to tailor interruptions. Players will be able to select the level of detail they receive while progressing through a career.
