Sports Ministry reviews India's 2026 Asian Games performance after disappointing medal tally

India's Sports Ministry on Thursday reviewed the country's performance at the 2026 Asian Games in a meeting prompted by a disappointing medal tally.

The ministry called on National Sports Federations to assume greater responsibility and emphasised developing a pipeline of athletes rather than relying on a few stars.

The meeting also covered preparations for the 2028 Olympics and the 2030 Commonwealth Games and highlighted the need for better support systems.
