Sree Charani sets record 817-point rating in ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings

New Delhi, September 30, 2026 — India spinner Sree Charani has set a new high in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, the ICC website said on Wednesday.

The left-arm spinner rose to a record rating of 817 points, surpassing Australia’s Megan Schutt’s previous best of 806 points set in November 2018, according to the ICC website. Charani’s jump followed her performances in the Women’s Asia Cup and the 2026 Asian Games. She was already listed as the top-ranked T20I bowler before the update.

Charani took 12 wickets during India’s Asia Cup-winning campaign and produced a match-winning spell of 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka as India lifted the title for the eighth time, the ICC website reported.

At the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, Charani recorded career-best figures of 4/10 against hosts Japan in the quarterfinals and took two wickets in the gold medal match against Sri Lanka, contributions that helped India secure the title.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma moved up in the T20I bowling rankings after taking three wickets in the Asian Games final, rising to a 754 rating, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone remained third with 723 points. India opener Smriti Mandhana returned to the top five of the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after scoring 79 in the Asian Games final.

In the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews climbed three places to fourth among batters with 711 points following her 182 against Zimbabwe. Several players in the ongoing ODI series gained ground: Zimbabwe’s Nyasha Gwanzura moved up 52 spots to 156th in the ODI bowling rankings after figures of 4/33, and Modester Mupachikwa rose 16 places to a career-best 40th in the batting rankings after scores of 86 and 38.

The ICC listings show Australia’s Ash Gardner leading the ODI all-rounder rankings, Hayley Matthews remaining top of the T20I all-rounder category, Alana King holding No.1 in ODI bowling, Beth Mooney leading the T20I batting rankings, and Smriti Mandhana as the top-ranked ODI batter.
