Sri Lanka name 16-member squad for Test series against India; Kusal Mendis ruled out

Sri Lanka Cricket on August 12, 2026 announced a 16-member squad for the forthcoming Test series against India and said Kusal Mendis was ruled out.

Niroshan Dickwella returns to the Test squad following injury recovery. Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the team and Kamindu Mendis has been named vice-captain. The squad includes three specialist spin bowlers alongside a described formidable pace unit. Sri Lanka said the series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.
