Starzella expected to feature in Zavaray S. Poonawalla Mysore 1000 Guineas on Sept 18
Starzella, described as being in fine fettle, is set to contest the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Mysore 1000 Guineas (1,600m) at Mysuru on Friday, Sept 18.
The race, billed as the first classic of the season at the track, will be run over 1,600 metres and attracted a field of six three-year-old fillies: Pearl Star (6) G. Vivek 56, Royal Legacy (4) Akshay K 56, Shutterfly (2) Sandesh 56, Starzella (5) Trevor 56, Tyche (1) Srinath 56 and Yarra Yarra (3) Antony 56. Starzella finished first in the event with Royal Legacy placed second.
The opening race on the card was the Sidapur Plate (Div. II) over 1,400m, rated 00 to 25 and scheduled for 2:00 p.m.; the declared runners included Trump Baby (1) A. Baandal 60.5, Chinky Pinky (7) L.A. Rozario 59.5 and Zebula (10) Ayaz Khan 59.5. Major Saab (6) Aleemuddin 59 was returned as the winner, with Double Scotch placed second and Chinky Pinky third.
The Panchgani Plate (Div. II), 1,200m for horses rated 20 to 45 (5-y-o & over) at 2:30 p.m., featured Golden Bird (2) S. Imran 60, Swaghatham (6) Ankit Pal 56.5 and Coorg General (4) Siddaraju P 55.5 among its entries. D Roman Reigns took first place, Perfect Heart finished second and Seiko Katsu third.
Sidapur Plate (Div. I) at 3:00 p.m. (1,400m, rated 00 to 25) listed Desert Shield (6) S. Sachin 62.5, Azmanah (4) Ankit Pal 62 and D Roman Power (5) Sai Kiran 61.5 among the starters. Desert Shield won that division, Carter was runner-up and D Roman Power placed third.
The R.M. Puttanna Memorial Cup (1,200m), rated 40 to 65 and run at 3:30 p.m., included Smiles Of Fortune (1) Ankit Pal 62.5, Asio (9) S. Shareef 61 and Winter Agenda (11) N. Darshan 61 in the lineup. Night Rider recorded the victory, Pilot Officer finished second and Selma took third place.
Later on the card, the Eclipse Plate (1,400m, rated 20 to 45) at 4:30 p.m. listed Don DP (2) S. Saqlain 61.5 and Brave Heart (4) S. Sachin 59 among its runners; Rosaline was the winner with Gifted Falcon second and Jolie’s Star third. The closing race, Panchgani Plate (Div. I) over 1,200m at 5:00 p.m., featured Habibti (9) Trevor 62.5, Mr Karnataka (11) Md. Talib 62.5 and Neelambari (4) S. Imran 62.5, with Habibti winning, Mr Karnataka second and The Grey Geranium third.
