Suchika Tariyal, a 36-year-old Rohtak fighter, became India’s first Asian Games MMA medallist at the Asian Games on September 20, 2026 after beating Mongolia’s Altanchimeg Baigalmaa 2-0 to reach the -60kg semifinals.
Eve-teased at 12, Tariyal took up judo for self-defence and progressed through judo, Ju-Jitsu and MMA.
A former eight-time national judo champion, Tariyal hopes her journey inspires more young women.
