Haryana boxer Sumit Kundu secured a place at the Asian Games after battling a career‑threatening knee injury, the Times of India reported on Aug. 26, 2026.

He quit boxing as a teenager to work as a security guard after his father died young and financial hardship forced him to stop, the report said. His village helped him return to the sport, and he went on to win national and international medals.

He missed the Paris Olympics due to the knee injury but later made a comeback that secured his place for both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.
