Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC defeated defending champions Kannur Warriors FC on 4 October 2026 at the Chandrashekaran Nair Stadium in the final match of Round 2 of Super League Kerala 2026, prevailing 3-0 in the penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw.

Kombans controlled the early phases with aggressive long balls while the hosts struggled to convert chances and Kannur concentrated on building from the back. Neither side scored in open play until the 42nd minute when Nisham chest-trapped a long pass and struck the far post to put Kombans ahead. In the second half Frederick Ansah Botchway levelled with a clever nutmeg finish to make it 1–1. The match proceeded to penalties after the draw.

Kannur missed all three of their penalty attempts, handing Thiruvananthapuram Kombans a 3–0 win in the shootout and two crucial points. The shootout result concluded the Round 2 fixture at the Chandrashekaran Nair Stadium. The game finished as Kombans’ first home result of the campaign in this matchweek.

The victory moved Thiruvananthapuram Kombans up to fourth place in the Super League Kerala 2026 table with two points and a goal difference of -2. Kannur Warriors remained in third position on three points with a goal difference of 1. These placements reflect the league standings immediately after the Round 2 fixtures.

Calicut FC and Forca Kochi FC sit level on five points each, with Calicut FC occupying first place due to a superior goal difference of +2 compared to Forca Kochi’s +1, which keeps Forca Kochi in second. Malappuram FC and Thrissur Magic FC are tied on one point and a goal difference of -1; applying the competition’s third tie-breaking criterion — higher number of goals scored — places Malappuram FC (1 goal) in fifth and Thrissur Magic FC (0 goals) in sixth.
