Suryakumar Yadav, Jitesh Sharma and other Indian cricketers take part in MLBx Mumbai baseball showcase

Suryakumar Yadav, Jitesh Sharma and several Indian cricketers participated in the MLBx Mumbai baseball event at the Mumbai Football Arena in the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The exhibition featured baseball and softball athletes alongside cricket stars in a series of short games.
Major League Baseball has staged the event as part of its efforts to introduce baseball to Indian fans and to bring together players from different sports for new experiences. The two sports were contrasted in coverage, noting that cricket already has a large following in India while baseball is aiming to expand its reach. MLBx made its India appearance after debuting during the 2026 All-Star festivities in Philadelphia.
Suryakumar Yadav served as MLB India’s ambassador at the Mumbai event, took part in the on-field action and hit a home run to applause from the crowd. He featured in the Yankees-branded side alongside former MLB player Nick Swisher and softball star Rachel Garcia. The event coverage singled out Yadav’s turnout as a central attraction for local fans.
Players were split into four teams named after MLB franchises for the competition. The Cubs side included former MLB pitcher Jake Arrieta with Shardul Thakur and Radha Yadav. The Red Sox team paired Jonny Gomes with Kashvee Gautam and Deepak Chahar, while the Dodgers team featured Adrián González with Jitesh Sharma and softball player Jordan Woolery.
The contest used a knockout format with three-inning games. MLBx Mumbai was organised by Major League Baseball and brought together baseball stars, softball players and Indian cricketers for the exhibition.
After the Mumbai stop, MLBx is scheduled to travel to Fukuoka, Japan, on November 7, 2026. The Mumbai visit was MLBx’s first stop in South Asia following its debut at the 2026 All-Star festivities in Philadelphia.
