On 2026-10-10 Swansea climbed to the top of the Championship with a 2-1 comeback win over Norwich, while Burnley recorded a 4-0 victory at Vicarage Road; Middlesbrough also moved up after a 1-0 win over Wolves. The results were part of a wider round-up of EFL fixtures published on 2026-10-10.

Swansea overturned an early deficit as Jacob Wright’s strike just before the half-hour was cancelled by second-half goals from Moussa Yeo and Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah, the third time this season they have come from behind to win. Manager Vítor Matos praised his players and said: “I’m really happy with the boys. Players had been flying around because of the international break, joining on the last days of training as well before the game. It’s not the easiest way to prepare. It’s all about trying to reconnect everyone.” The victory, and West Ham’s draw the previous night, put Swansea top of the table, but Adam Idah limped out of the action and “could be a doubt for Tuesday’s visit to Millwall.” Norwich suffered a fourth straight defeat in all competitions and have conceded 19 goals in nine league matches.

Middlesbrough celebrated their 150th anniversary with a 1-0 victory over Wolves at the Riverside Stadium, Will Lankshear’s second-half header from Tommy Conway’s cross proving decisive in front of a sold-out crowd. The win lifted Middlesbrough above West Ham into second place. Wolves were beaten for the second time in the league since their relegation last season.

Birmingham won the Black Country derby 1-0 at The Hawthorns after Nat Phillips conceded a 41st-minute penalty for fouling August Priske, who converted from the spot. West Brom head coach James Morrison described Phillips as a “strong character” and defended him, saying: “I understand he’s made two errors but it was just a misjudgement.” Morrison was referring in part to Phillips’s earlier back pass that had allowed Fer Lopez to win the previous derby for Wolves.

Burnley’s 4-0 win at Vicarage Road was their first victory of the season and their first away win since February, a result that lifted Nicky Hayen’s side off the bottom of the table. Three goals came inside a 12-minute spell in the first half as Watford extended a poor defensive run to 29 weeks without a clean sheet. The Clarets’ away success ended a 241-day wait for a road win, while the defeat intensified pressure on Hornets head coach Alessio Dionisi, who apologised: “In football it’s normal. It’s probably better to say only one thing – I’m sorry for this match. I’m very angry because after 30 minutes the match was finished, it was impossible to come back. But I believe in my team and I believe in my job. I’m here and we work every to improve: now it is important to work well, to work better.” Dionisi acknowledged the boos after he substituted Iker Bravo after 35 minutes and added: “Iker is a good player and, for me, he must play every match, but I had to change something and it was impossible to change everyone.”

Elsewhere in English football, Plymouth came from behind to beat Wimbledon 2-1 with Xavier Amaechi scoring in stoppage time to put them clear at the top of League One, and new Peterborough manager Robbie Savage enjoyed a 3-1 win at Leicester as Owura Edwards and Harry Leonard scored and Warren O’Hora’s own goal made it 3-0 before Emil Riis reduced the deficit. Oxford won 2-1 at Notts County thanks to goals from Mark Harris and Cameron Brannagan, while Bradford were held to a goalless draw by Leyton Orient and slipped two points behind Plymouth.

Swansea’s win secured them top spot in the Championship in the immediate standings, Adam Idah’s fitness will be monitored ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Millwall, and Burnley’s victory removed them from the bottom of the table.
