Syndrela Das and Payas Jain captured the women’s and men’s titles respectively at the UTT National ranking table tennis tournament held at The Sportz Hub in Kanpur on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Syndrela celebrated her 17th birthday by completing a double crown while Payas recovered from his loss in the Commonwealth Championship final three weeks earlier to headline the final day.

The tournament’s concluding day saw senior players finish their last three rounds as the youth categories reached their apex. Syndrela completed seven matches without dropping a game across the event and later accounted for Ananya Muralidharan to secure the youth girls’ crown. Divyanshi Bhowmick, who had won the under-17 title and lost to Ananya in the U-19 semifinal, reached the senior women’s final as a fellow teenager.

The men’s final was contested between two members of India’s Asian Games squad, with Payas overcoming Manav Thakkar in a five-game match. Payas’ service receiving was noted as a decisive factor in breaching Manav’s defensive game as he worked his way to victory. Both players had advanced through tight semifinals: Payas beating Jeet Chandra and Manav defeating Ankur Bhattacharjee to set up the final.

The youth boys’ final produced a 65-minute contest in which Priyanuj Bhattacharrya edged Abhinandh P.B. Priyanuj conceded a fifth-game tie-break 21-23 but then shifted to a more aggressive approach to take the next two games and close out the match. In the semifinals Priyanuj beat Punit Biswas while Abhinandh overcame Soham Mukherjee to reach the decider.

In the senior women’s draw Syndrela defeated Divyanshi Bhowmick to claim the title, with the Kolkata paddler’s backhand winners described as decisive in the final.
