Tadhg Furlong has been cited over an alleged groin grab during Leinster's United Rugby Championship match against Munster at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday. He has been included in Ireland's squad for November's Nations Championship fixtures.

Munster back row Gavin Coombes raised the allegation with match referee Andrew Brace in the closing stages of the first half after an incident in the 37th minute when Munster were leading, but television match official Colin Stanley could not find any video evidence at the time. The citation has been made under Law 9.27, which states "a player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship including but not limited to grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals". The player cited is front-row forward Tadhg Furlong.

The United Rugby Championship issued a statement saying "arrangements for the disciplinary process are currently in progress and will be announced in due course". Furlong, 33, now faces a formal disciplinary process under that law.

If found guilty, the 33-year-old would be in danger of missing Ireland's Nations Championship matches with Argentina, Fiji and South Africa in Dublin, as well as the finals weekend in London. A similar suspension would also put him at risk of missing key Leinster fixtures, including their Investec Champions Cup Pool match with Sale and the festive inter-provincial derbies with Ulster and Munster.

There is precedent for lengthy bans: in October 2025 South Africa front-rower Jan-Hendrik Wessels received a nine-match suspension for grabbing Josh Murphy's genitals in the Bulls' URC win over Connacht. Munster suffered a 24-18 defeat at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday. After the game, Munster head coach Clayton McMillan said he would "back our players 100% that if they make an allegation like that", while Leinster head coach Leo Cullen said he did not see the incident but described it as a "serious matter".

The United Rugby Championship has said the disciplinary arrangements will be announced in due course, leaving the timing of any hearing and its potential effect on Furlong's availability for the November Nations Championship fixtures pending.
