Tanvi, Ashmita and Rakshitha advance to Korea Masters quarterfinals

Tanvi Sharma, Ashmita Chaliha and Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj progressed to the quarterfinals of the Korea Masters Super 300 in Asan, South Korea on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The three Indian women won their pre-quarterfinal matches to keep their campaigns alive at the tournament.

Seventeen-year-old third seed Tanvi Sharma, fresh from winning her maiden BWF World Tour title at the Taipei Open, defeated compatriot Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-16, 17-21, 21-13 in a 57-minute pre-quarterfinal contest. Tanvi climbed to a career-high world No. 30 following her Taipei triumph.

Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj secured her quarterfinal berth with a 22-20, 21-10 victory over Japan’s Manami Suizu in 45 minutes. The win set up a cross-over among the Indian qualifiers in the last eight.

Ashmita Chaliha progressed with a 21-17, 21-6 win over South Korea’s Kim Min Ji in 31 minutes. Her straight-games victory moved her into the tournament’s final eight.

Several Indian singles players exited in closely contested matches: Anmol Kharb lost to Vietnam’s Vu Thi Trang 21-23, 21-15, 18-21 in a one-hour eight-minute match; Mansi Singh was beaten by China’s fourth seed Han Qian Xi 12-21, 21-14, 17-21 in 53 minutes; and fifth seed Isharani Baruah fell to South Korea’s unseeded Kim Min Sun 17-21, 18-21 after a one-hour 18-minute contest.

In doubles action, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy defeated South Korea’s Kim Young Hyuk and Shin Tae Yang 21-18, 21-19 in 39 minutes. In mixed doubles, sixth seeds Ishaan Bhatnagar and Shruti Mishra were beaten by South Korea’s Shin Tae Yang and Kim Yu Jung 16-21, 21-16, 13-21 in 49 minutes, ending India’s campaign in that section. India’s women’s doubles pairing Sonali Singh and Ritika Thaker were eliminated by Japan’s seventh-seeded Sumire Nakade and Miyu Takahashi 15-21, 9-21 in under half an hour.

Tanvi will next face Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj for a place in the semifinals; Ashmita is scheduled to meet top-seed Hina Akechi of Japan on Friday; and Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy will take on Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik on Friday (August 7) for a place in the semifinals. India’s men’s singles campaign had already ended on the opening day with Kidambi Srikanth, Mithun Manjunath, Kiran George, Saneeth Dayanand, Rounak Chouhan and Tharun Mannepalli all exiting in their respective first-round matches.
