Tatum Paxley confirmed for in-ring debut on August 28 SmackDown after Toronto edition

Tatum Paxley’s main roster in-ring debut was confirmed during the August 21 edition of WWE SmackDown at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with her match scheduled for the August 28 episode; the Toronto show also set up Sunday Night’s Main Event and several other storyline developments.
The August 21 SmackDown was a sold-out event that featured title matches and introductions of new characters. Blake Monroe attacked Giulia before their scheduled match and called out Chelsea Green, preventing the bout from taking place. Baron Corbin challenged Lil Yachty for a spot on Sunday Night’s Main Event, attaching a five-minute stipulation tied to Trick Williams’ US title rematch. After multiple teases, Kyoki (fka Hiromu Takahashi) was unveiled in a video package alongside Shinsuke Nakamura.
Blake Monroe interrupted a planned match with Giulia and declared she would make her in-ring debut against the Champion, leaving the scheduled contest unresolved. Monroe also publicly called out Chelsea Green during the same sequence at the Scotiabank Arena. The interruption removed the match from the card and redirected Monroe’s momentum toward a future title confrontation.
Baron Corbin addressed Lil Yachty on the show and set terms for a Sunday Night’s Main Event appearance, stating that if Yachty lasts five minutes with him then Trick Williams will receive a US title rematch. That stipulation was presented as part of Corbin’s segment to secure a spot on the SNME card. The exchange tied the Blue brand’s build to the upcoming special.
The show’s main event revolved around the Undisputed title, with Sami Zayn initially attempting to help Kevin Owens defeat CM Punk and win the championship. Kevin Owens refused to employ underhanded tactics, at which point Sami Zayn betrayed Owens and that turn aided CM Punk in picking up the win. Zayn then launched a post-match assault on both Punk and Owens to close the Toronto edition of SmackDown.
A backstage confrontation confirmed Tatum Paxley’s in-ring debut after her main roster arrival two weeks earlier, when she assisted Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss against Jade Cargill and company. The confirmation occurred when Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab confronted Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Paxley; Michin challenged Paxley for the August 28 show and Paxley accepted. That exchange formalised the match for next week’s SmackDown.
WWE announced that the August 28 edition of SmackDown will be pre-taped rather than airing live, with the company set to tape the program in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, this coming Monday after Monday Night Raw. WWE also plans a double taping of Raw and SmackDown in Cleveland next Friday ahead of Labor Day week. The show in Toronto was used to further the build toward Sunday Night’s Main Event, where two matches from the Blue brand have been announced.
Paxley will meet Michin on the August 28 pre-taped SmackDown, and WWE has scheduled Sunday Night’s Main Event for Sunday, September 6, 2026, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia; Money in the Bank is set for October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
