Thomas Christiansen names 27-member Panama squad for September-October FIFA window

Panama coach Thomas Christiansen named a 27-member squad for an Asian tour of matches in India and Japan during the September-October FIFA international window. The selection is the first set of call-ups for the senior national team following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Christiansen selected players to contest a series of three international fixtures: a friendly against India on September 25 in Bangalore, a match on October 1 against New Zealand in Yokohama, and an October 5 game at the National Stadium in Tokyo against either Japan or Ecuador. The announcement states that 14 of the 27 players were part of Panama’s squad at the last World Cup in 2026.

The list includes six players who are looking to make their senior international debuts: Marcos De León, Jair Modelo, Joseph Jones, Josué Vergara, Daivis Murillo and Mijahir Jiménez.

Two members of the squad compete in the Panamanian Football League: goalkeeper Marcos De León represents Sporting San Miguelito and midfielder Daivis Murillo plays for CD Plaza Amador.

Local-based players, along with the coaching staff and other personnel, will depart on Saturday, September 19th in the evening to Amsterdam for a layover before flying to India. Players based abroad will travel from their clubs after finishing their respective league matches this weekend to join the team’s training camp hotel in the city of Bangalore.

Panama’s next confirmed fixture is the friendly against India on September 25 in Bengaluru, which serves as the first match of the tour.
