Chennaiyin FC played a goalless draw with Kerala Blasters in their first home match of the MG Indian Super League 2026-27 season and will face East Bengal at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, 7th November 2026.

The draw left Chennaiyin with 2 points from four ISL 2026-27 games and sitting 11th in the table, with the team having scored just one goal so far this season after managing 9 goals in 13 ISL matches last campaign. Head coach Clifford Miranda’s side are creating opportunities but remain short on finishing, a problem the forthcoming fixture presents a chance to address.

Defensively, Chennaiyin must cope without Emmanuel Imanishimwe after his red card against Kerala Blasters, which carries a suspension for the East Bengal game, forcing the club to deploy Nuno Reis as their primary foreign defensive option. Nuno started Chennaiyin’s first two matches this season, registering 9 defensive contributions and 10 recoveries, numbers the club will rely upon against an East Bengal attack that has scored 9 goals in two ISL fixtures this term.

Midfield selection could be affected by international call-ups as Irfan Yadwad and Brison Fernandes have been summoned to the Indian national team for the SAFF Championship 2026 and may not play the full match or start against East Bengal. That situation opens the door for Bryce Miranda and Prakadeswaran to stake a claim: Prakadeswaran has logged 103 minutes with 2 shots and 3 crosses this season, while Bryce has featured for 84 minutes, creating 3 chances including 2 big chances.

Upfront, Ramon Tanque’s returns have been mixed; the report notes he is winning duels and dropping deep to help teammates but his finishing has been below par and he has at times attempted to take on defenders alone. Clifford Miranda could alter the formation to provide Ramon with additional support, for example by deploying Shubham Rawat or Bryce Miranda alongside him and giving Madih Talal and Nikola Stojanovic more attacking options.

A 4-4-2 switch is proposed as one tactical adjustment for the Chennaiyin starting XI, with Madih Talal suggested to start on the left midfield and Pragadeswaran on the right to balance attacking and wide service.

The ISL match between East Bengal and Chennaiyin FC will kick off at 7:30 PM IST on Saturday, 7th November 2026 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai and will be live-streamed on the Indian Super League’s YouTube channel and on Sony LIV, with television coverage on the Sony Sports Network.
